You Can Overcome the Financial Crisis

It is said that when the pupil is ready the teacher appears.

My latest teacher is a book that I recommend everyone read. A successful person I know says this book is the guide to success he follows. He is financially secure.

The world has changed. Concern about terrorism has been replaced with the greatest financial crisis since the end of WW2.

My parents and grandparents would often mention the Great Depression beginning in 1929. Today the economic situation is being compared to this.

The book is, ‘Think and Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill and published in 1937. An all time classic that has sold more copies around the world and been responsible for the creation of more millionaires than any other book in history.

Hill was commissioned by Andrew Carnegie to interview the most successful people in the country at the time and publish his findings.

I feel the current financial crisis will force us look at the fundamental values that prosperity has allowed us to ignore.

Thirteen principles about wealth accumulation are published in this book.

The book’s purpose is not to entertain but should be studied, absorbed and meditated upon.

Hill states that the Law of Economics neither recognises nor tolerates for long GETTING WITHOUT GIVING. This Law is a natural not man made one. It hands out both penalties for its violation and appropriate rewards for its observance. The Law cannot be repealed.

Some of the principles that Napoleon Hill outlines in his book are:

  • There is no such thing as something for nothing

  • We have the power to control our thoughts

  • The only limitations we have are those we set up in our own minds.

  • Keep on keeping on. It is a lesson most of us have to learn

  • Analyse defeat and find the lesson

  • One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat

  • Do not allow fear to dominate thinking

  • One must develop the state of mind which will attract riches

And finally. All the philosophy that Napoleon Hill examined clearly indicates that:

Every adversity brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage.

It is time to ‘Think and Grow Rich!
