‘Tween a Devil and His Hard Place by Sam Cheever is a sexy fantasy that follows ‘Tween Heaven and Hell. It can stand on its own but you will appreciate the story more if you start with book one. Astra, the feisty heroine, narrates and her quick tongue makes it an entertaining read. A supporting cast of colorful demons, some laugh aloud dialogue and a devilish fast-paced plot keep the pages flying. You can expect magic, mayhem and a few mildly explicit sex scenes.
Astra Q. Phelps is a tweener, half devil and half angel. Prince Dialle, is a royal devil. Together they must investigate a demon uprising that was supposedly started by a witches’ coven. If the demons succeed it will change the balance of power and not for the good. Astra finds evidence that her parents are involved and she ends up spying on her own father who is suspected of being a dark angel. To make matters worse she is torn between two demons, Prince Dialle and her partner Emo.
Astra’s sassy attitude and big mouth keep getting her in trouble and provide lots of entertaining scenarios in this futuristic paranormal romp. Dialle is even sexier than he was in the first book and the other characters are unique and well written as well. Cheever has a good sense of humor and she injects it into her characters. this is a great escape for readers who are looking for humor, adventure and steamy romance.
