What is the Imposter Phenomena?

Dealing with people in business and life is difficult enough, worse some people who are really good at what they do, even brilliant, come with a bit of baggage. One of these show stoppers is the Imposter Phenomena and it is real, and you really need to understand what it is and how it works. I recommend the following book:

“If I’m So Successful, Why Do I Feel Like a Fake – The Imposter Phenomena” by Joan C. Harvey, PhD, with Cynthia Katz – 1985. Believe it or not in the arena of super achievers of our society is a real psychological problem, as many people feel like they are fake and fear that someone will expose them as being a fraud. This is a real problem and it is so common it is almost universal. Even people with earned-egos and superstars in their own right, those who really deserve all their success who are nothing anywhere close to being fake, imposters, or fraudulent, feel this way – some 70%.

This book helps people see the imposter phenomena in themselves and others, understanding how it affecting your life, work and endeavors, as well as how to over come it. The imposter phenomena resides deep within families and certain types. These feelings are deeply involved in a sense of guilt and these attributes are used by companies to sell products and in branding, it works. This book explains exactly what the Imposter phenomena is and what it is not, how o deal with it, over come it and recognize it too. The book even contains a sample personality test to see if you do have such tendencies.

I recommend this work, you will be surprised at the ramifications and be able to spot someone who suffers from the Imposter Phenomena, after reading this book and then you will be blown away but how many there are, it is truly amazing.
