“Hotter Than Hell,” book three of Jackie Kessler’s “Hell on Earth” series, is a deliciously sinful treat. This time it’s all about Daunuan, the irresistible incubus. His sexy supernatural antics make sparks fly and if you’re not careful you’ll singe your fingers as the pages speed by.
The incubus Daunuan seduces mortals and brings their souls to Hell. The King of Lust offers him a promotion to First Principal of Lust if he will seduce Virginia Reed, a woman meant to go to Heaven. Virginia resists his charms. She’s a widow who is still mourning her husband. Daunuan knows he’ll wear her down eventually but first he has to deal with rogue demons and the realization he may be falling in love with the very woman he must doom for eternity.
This book can stand on it’s own but if you read the previous two books you will already be familiar with Daunuan. Kessler does a great job writing this story from a male point of view. Daunuan is conflicted about his feelings for Virginia and if he succeeds in seducing her it will kill her. Their romantic relationship creates a lot of sexual tension for the incubus. Never fear. You will not be disappointed with the ending. It’s satisfying albeit bitter sweet.
If you’re a reader who isn’t into a demon as the hero, spicy dialogue and spicier sex scenes give this one a pass. On the other hand if you like clever urban fantasy that’s packed with quirky characters, a sizzling fast-paced plot and great writing you won’t be disappointed. Be prepared for a demonic treat that’s hotter than hell.
